Zoo Day

In January, we skipped school and went to the last free zoo day of the season.  We took along two of our friends who's father had just passed away.  The day was great and we had a fun rainy time with hardly anyone at the zoo.  That's the second time I've been there in the rain and it's empty and perfect!

Can you see the giant sea lion by his hand?

What is it about kids and umbrellas that is ADORABLE!!!

Our friends' mom sent along money to get them a treat at the zoo store.  My kids helped them find good choices and then they both chose one special toy.  Carter's friend insisted on spending his money on something to cheer his mom up.  He was convinced that these slippers he bought would make his mom smile after losing his dad the week before.  It was so sweet, I cried. His brother got a toy that he thought his little sister would enjoy.  They are the sweetest boys!
