Funny Things Kids Say

This past weekend we went to a pioneer pancakes breakfast at church to celebrate Pioneer day which is a big deal in Utah and Arizona. While sitting eating breakfast in the "cultural hall" or gymnasium of the church, Carter said as if noticing for the first time the hoops that were there, "I didn't know Jesus played basketball. This is His house, right?"

The Catalyst

Since when did furniture bring my excitement to the surface? It reminds me of watching Price is Right as a kid where the dining room set was so boring but the new car was cool. Now getting new furniture has quite a wow factor. I finally found a set of bunk beds and chest of drawers for the boys room. It has been the one thing holding back a domino of other things that have got to get done ASAP. Now that we've got them, here are all the things that can start to fall into place and hopefully calm my crazy moods: switch out all the furniture in the boys room for new stuff that can fit two boys instead of one, put in the new crib, get out the baby clothes for the arrival which could come as soon as 26 days from now (if I'm early as I hope...), sell all the old furniture, and prepare the house to sell.

I won't worry about the house for sale. The goal for that is October 1st so I'll think about that later. I just want things to be ready for this little one. It's strange because I've never been stressed with the other three but with number four I have been pretty hard to live with. I must have the best husband in the world to be patient with my emotions, stress and lists of things that he has to do.

Date Night with my little Man...Miles

Doug took the Carter and Haleigh to a D-backs game tonight so Miles and I had a wonderful date night. With some takeout from Olive Garden, and some snuggly PJ's- we set in to watch "So You Think You Can Dance." I don't know why but I really love all the dancing shows they have on TV and this one is no exception. There was an AWESOME routine from Wednesday nights show towards the end symbolizing breast cancer and before I knew it-I was bawling my eyes out. Then the judges spoke and agreed with my own reaction. If you get time-go check it out online. I bet it wins an Emmy next year for that dance. We followed up the teary dance show with some good ol' cartoons. Quite a successful date, I'd say!

Speaking of Utah

Michelle's Pedicure with the Girls

Carter and Dad on the Hike

Haleigh's First Time with Smores

Picking Veggies at Great Grandma's Farm

Miles and Dad at the Parade

We got back at the beginning of the month from a family reunion trip to Utah. It was very fun! The kids saw where Doug and I were married at the Mount Timpanogous Temple. We told the kids, "That is where mom and dad said we loved each other and kissed and now we are a family forever." Since we passed the temple a few times, Haleigh heard the story over and over and eventually rolled her eyes and quoted the story back to me saying, "I KNOW, mom!" I learned that I can manage the second level of drums on rock band and that Doug is close behind. My brother and his wife were awesome hosts to over 19 people and though the noise level was high-it was fun to see everyone with morning hair until bedtime prayers. The photos show the highlights. Here are our favorite moments:
Doug-seeing mountains and pine trees, grilling on the 4th, spending time with the family

Michelle-seeing her brothers and sister and their families, cooler weather, fry sauce and great food
Carter- Kangaroo Zoo for bouncy fun, Great Grandma's Store for french fries and a free candy from Grandma, climbing a mountain with Dad and going in Timp Cave

Haleigh - going to Jocelyn and Jenica's house to play, going to the parade

Miles-running in the grass in the backyard, climbing stairs

The Summer Heat

Every day begins with a cheerful smile, and by the end-most of the family is grumpy because of one very large, very obvious reason...we live in Arizona. Why do people choose to live in this heat? It has been over 115 every day and last night with some thunderstorms, it dropped to below 100. Add five or more degrees to my personal baby temperature and I'm ready to move to Alaska! My grocery bill is mostly beverages-kookaid, water, juice, juiceboxes, capri suns, and otterpops. So, to encourage our goal to move to Utah where there are mountains, family, and green trees and grass-I've made a vision board to look at everyday. Let's hope my positive thinking works!
