Then we had to get serious and start prepping for school. We began with touring the middle school, figuring out how to open lockers and stuffing each sibling in the locker to see if they fit. Decorating a locker takes time and skill. The only thing that made Carter nervous was the idea of changing clothes in the locker room for PE. I can still remember the dread I felt for that same reason. It only took two months to not care so he can save two minutes of passing time.
Then we headed to the elementary school to prepare for our kinder, first and fourth graders. They met teachers, checked out their desk and showed the new little guy around the school.
The sunday before school starts Doug always gives a father's blessing to each child which is a special prayer where he puts his hands on their heads and uses the priesthood power to bless them. I've begun recording them and transcribing them for their scrapbooks.

Kindergarten first day of school is always exciting followed up by our traditional "You did it!" balloon.
"Take one where I look awesome, Mom!"
