Payson Temple Cultural Celebration

The youth in our local area were very privileged to be part of a big production called the "Cultural Celebration" to honor a local temple which opened in the town next to us and services all the nearby towns. There were over 13,000 teenagers involved. Carter was in the show and Doug helped coordinate our ward.  First all the kids got costumes, bags and supplies for a few of the dance/song numbers they were in.  Our garage was packed with teenagers and our cul-de-sac was full of cars.  The rest of the kids had a great time spying on them.

Then the youth practiced learning the songs, auditioning for solos and rehearsals for a few months.  They got to practice at the BYU football stadium a few times.  I went to pick him up one day and caught some backstage action of the stripling warriors.  I couldn't find Carter.  Later I learned that this was just a quarter of the 2000 boys (in this particular corner) and Carter was somewhere else in the stadium.

I finally found him (thanks to our cell phones) and got a few pics of him practicing on one of the hot days.

On another practice, the clouds started foreshadowing the awful storm that was approaching and people were starting to get worried that the show would be cancelled.  There were rumors that some of the apostles would come.

I love this pic with him and the clouds.

Exiting the stadium took a while with all these kids.
