Family Update

I told Doug a few weeks ago that it was going to be a really eventful and fun week for the kids.  I was excited for them to enjoy Halloween, parties and parades at school and fall fun.  It was even busier and funner than I anticipated.

First, Doug and I got new callings at church.  Doug is the Scout Committee Chair, in charge of organizing all the boy scouts.  He knows nothing about scouting so he has a lot to learn.  I also got called to help out with cub scouts which will be fun since I'll be helping with his den.  That means both Doug and I need some scout shirts.  I found out that there is some sort of glue stuff I can buy at the scout store to attach the badges which I was glad to learn since I'm a terrible sew-er.

(Note to self:  How do you spell sew-er?  It looked like sewer.)

I also got a second calling to be gospel doctrine teacher in sunday school.  I've taught a few times already and it's fun, but time consuming to study everything I need to know about the Old Testament.  I am NO expert!

Next, that week, we had our fall fun family home evening.  It is so fun to wear warm socks around the house and drink hot chocolate by the fire.  Although I've decided I love the crazy socks/tights that women wear around here and I want some from Santa.  A short skirt with some striped tights would be so cute!  I keep asking Doug when I see certain styles, "Do you think I could pull off boots like those?  Do you think I'd look good in heels like that, etc."  He gently shakes his head no.  Hmm...we'll see.

Surprising us all was snow on the mountains one day and the very next day snow all around about 3 inches.  The kids excitement is contagious!   It took us forever to get ready for school the first day.  They couldn't figure out how to get their shoes on with big, thick, winter coats on.  I also had to put all the shorts up high in their closets because they kept forgetting to not wear them.  At first, they hated their jeans but they're getting used to wearing pants every day.

Doug was able to get a part time job at Deseret Book to help out with the seasonal rush and we are grateful to have some money coming in for the first time in five months.  I'll post about some of his funny stories from that later on.

That's all for now.  I go to the doctor this week so we'll check on the little one and ultrasound is coming up soon too.  And no...we are not going to find out if it's a boy or girl.  We like to be surprised.

Congratulations to Doug for the job, and I am glad you all still seem to like the snow. I do not miss it at all, although today was sooooo cold here it felt like snow was in the air. We will love to hear news of your little one. What will be your nickname for this baby until it's born? (I still remember "Roo" for either Carter or Haleigh. Isn't that right?)

Hahaha, I believe it's seamstress. Can't wait to hear stories from the job.
