One of the kids' favorite things to do is decorate the tree. It's usually a big chore with a lot of hyper kids, tangled lights, scratchy arms from "fluffing" or tree, and then the ornaments which are the fun part. We finish it off with turning off all the lights and staring at it for a while. I got a new sign to go next to it this year which I thought looked nice.
