PhD Update

I wish this post had more information to share because my schooling has hit a lot of roadbumps the past few months.  

I can be found studying at all hours of the day or night (whenever I can squeeze it in, usually from 4am to 7am) and also wherever.  Here I am getting some reading done at the dentist office waiting for Carter to get a filling.  I hid behind their fish tank to focus.  

I also completed my pilot study which began in May and ended in August.  Here Haleigh is taking the price tags off the books the teachers are given to participate. She didn't like that job.

Here's my study buddy.

I hired Carter for his summer job to be my transcriptionist from my teacher interviews and focus groups.  He was actually pretty fast and did a great job.  

I also had to take a trip to Logan to meet my new Chair and took along Carter and Haleigh for the day.  I took them to one of my favorite places to eat, then they wandered around during my meeting.  Afterward, they played at the playground nearby for a while.  (I love that they still like to play).  We had dinner at a local restaurant and came home after a very long day.  

This is a frame I liked that was "distressed."

Since then, I've applied for another grant for funding for my research but didn't get it.  I also am preparing to go to present twice at a national conference.  I wrote two grants for that trip and got those, thankfully.  I am adjusting my dissertation topic somewhat as well.

I spent a lot of time studying in the guest room while watching Hart to Hart to keep an eye on the kids downstairs.  

My motivation at this point is pretty low and I'm hoping to get into gear and finish this up sometime in the next year or two. I had a dear classmate die, have been busy with family issues, and just haven't put in the time.
