For the big 12 year old birthday, Carter, Doug and I went to the temple where we were married and did baptisms for the dead for some of Doug's family members. We believe that if we do the work here, then after people die, they can have the choice to accept or not in heaven. It was very spiritual and a special day.
For the family outing, we took him to the Museum of Natural Curiousities and had a great time trying all the hands on activities.
Here's what a hurricane feels like.
The coolest thing about turning 12 is that you leave Primary (where the kids go at church) and become a Deacon (with the young men at church). You get to pass the sacrament, do all sorts of important church duties and now he gets to spend lots of time with his Dad (who is charge of the Deacons).
The first time he passed the sacrament, he lifted the tray to hand it back to the people who break the bread and dumped the whole tray on top of his head. The cool thing about being 12 is that you have a great sense of humor and he just laughed it off.
Happy 12th, Carter! You'll always be my baby!
