Timpanogos Storytelling Festival Fun

Over labor day weekend, my sister, mom, and grandma spent a fun day up Provo Canyon at the Timp Storytelling Festival.  It was very fun!  One thing I liked was that you could really start to distinguish the different styles of storytelling.  One was packed with sensory imagery.  She told a story of when her family used to go to the shore for clam bakes and through her storytelling you could smell, hear and see what she saw.  Another teller used music to tell stories from his childhood, another used humor and universal parenting type themes, another used word to show action, like "picture, picture, picture" when snapping a photo on his camera, and still another teller wove a story in a story in a story similar to a russian doll that ended up coming together in the end.  A really interesting day.  We went for my mom's 60th birthday gift and half of my excitement was seeing her and my grandma plan on where to go next.  She had always wanted to go.  There were different tents for tellers and golf carts to get around.  There were also tons of food vendors and a great gift shop that my sister and I played with puppets in.  The people we sat with at lunch had been there for 17 years in a row.  We followed them around for a while to see who was good.  Fun Day!
