I've decided big families have to have editing built in to your memories or else you just go crazy. What I mean by "editing" is that there are so many little tender, funny, happy moments in a day but there are also those crying, annoying, patience-demanding, arguing moments in that same day which have to be forgiven and forgotten for the next day.
Well, family trips are like that too except you are in a confined space all day long for more amplified loving/not so loving moments.
Here's what our trip from UT to Las Vegas held today:
Loving:
The kids pretending to nap in the backseat so they could stay up late to swim.
Listening to Brian Regan's latest comedy act on the Ipod
Haleigh's excitement over Vegas.
Not so loving:
Playing the Kevin Bacon game or "7 degrees" with Doug in the car. We couldn't get from Drew Barrymore to Kevin Bacon and it was driving me crazy.
Miles in his "no nap" persona which wasn't pretty by the end of the day.
Louis singing, shouting, talking and whatever other noise he could make to not go to bed and keeping the rest of us up.

Kids always remember the excitement of trips. I stink at 7 degrees, can't even do one or two!
