We were so lucky to have my mom and dad drive up from AZ to help us with the other four kids while Doug and I were in the hospital. They haven't missed a birth yet! Doug and Dad gave me a blessing the night before which was very nice. I was very grateful when we got home to be able to spend one evening with them before they had to head home to get back to work. We had a little time to talk, play games and enjoy each other, while taking turns holding that new little man.
Miles was Grandpa's sidekick and wouldn't leave his side.
Grandma brought fun surprises for the kids including dresses for Haleigh, a new folder for Carter to keep his author things in, Easter treats and toys, and some crafts to keep them busy.
It was very nice to have my mom on this visit. Not only did she change a ton of diapers (we now have three still in them) but she mopped, did dishes, cooked, shopped, and drove the kids to and from school, and even kept me company in the hospital for hours. We swapped birth stories and wondered together who in heaven might be escorting the baby down to earth. While she wasn't in the room for the actual delivery, she came in and got to hold Wyatt when he was only minutes old.
Thanks to Mom and Dad for helping out. We were so grateful to have family around to help us celebrate and keep things running. We can't wait to see you again soon!
