My Cookie Monster

Carter is known in the family as The Cookie Monster because he loves cookies of any type.  When he was only 3, I caught him stealing Oreos and said, "How many of these did you eat?" and he replied, "Only 17!"  Well the other day I woke up to find that someone had sneaked out of bed, to the kitchen and grabbed some chocolate chip cookies to bring back to bed but spilled most of it on the kitchen floor.  I, of course, approached my cookie monster who raised his hands and protested, "It wasn't me!  I was framed!"

Here he is dipping his cookie in milk the night before.  (P.S.  The middle of the night cookie nabber was Miles!)

Shows

If you know my family at all you'll know that my kids are show crazy.  They love to perform, sing, dance and do "shows."  Here are some of their latest.

I don't know where they get it from (wink... wink...)

Each funny in their own way.  Good old Snoopy!

A "stinky" song from Backyardigans where they hop around a smelly swamp on rocks.

Haleigh got a hold of Doug's I-Pod one day, snuck in on Carter's bunk bed and was just chillin' with some tunes.  She didn't know we were eavesdropping.

One year old's are so entertaining

Just a few videos to share how funny our little Louis is.  He has such a contageous laugh.  It's a belly chuckle, really.  It's easy to have a one year old with older siblings to keep him entertained, and busy.  I hardly ever have to keep him "stimulated" because there is always someone around to play and talk to him.  He has been perfect since the day he was born and recently has begun to show more personality and find his voice...and boy is it loud!

Primary Program

The kids practicing their parts for the primary program.  Haleigh had a few pictures written on her hand to help her remember.  Miles, of course, copied the big kids.

Carter's Dance Show

Carter's school here in Utah receives a grant where all classes get dance training.  Carter's third grade class was chosen for his grade level to perform in the "Arts Show" and he was really excited.  He surprised us all by being very good.  I had no idea he liked to dance hip hop.  I told him I'd put him in a class soon and he replied, "Sure, whatever." which in his language means he's excited.  Here are some photos of the night and also of his dance.  He is in the front row on the very far right.

They also had artwork displayed in the halls that focused on movement.  I asked Carter to strike a pose and the first thing he could come up with was this:

Kids Magazines

I saved up all the toy catalogs that came in the mail and gave it to the kids to read through at breakfast one morning.  Their conversation was funny.  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Doug!

Happy 40th Birthday today to my tall, not so dark, and very handsome husband Doug! If any of you have a memory to share of him, post it here for a happy birthday gift to him. Maybe as a present, I'll set him up with his own FB account since he currently uses mine to chat with friends. I love you Doug!

Decorating for Christmas

We initially said we wouldn't take out all our stuff to decorate to keep things simple this year but the kids kept asking for their favorite things and so after a couple of trips to our storage shed, we managed to cover every spare inch with Christmas cheer.  The kids are loving playing with all the holiday stuff.
Louis was eating a cookie when he suddenly saw the Christmas tree we put up while he was napping.  You can tell he is very excited!

This was Miles's section of the tree.  Notice four candy canes on one branch, and three sesame street ornaments together.

Haleigh's News

After heavy blinking and frequent headaches, we got Haleigh's eye's examined and it's now official.  She wears glasses.  After her eyes were dilated, she was "blind" for most of the day and it was sweet to see her brothers take care of her.  I even took her out to lunch on a blind date where I had to pretty much feed her since she couldn't see.  I think she looks really cute but she is still adjusting to them.  She is "fairly far sighted" as the doctor said which means she has to struggle to see things up close.  We are to try them out for 8 weeks and then go back to report.  So far, so good.  We've all been learning the rules of glasses like don't share them, don't loose them, wear them all the time, keep them clean, etc.  It's a lot for a five year old to take in.  She kept whispering to Louis, "It's me, Haleigh.  Do you recognize me?"

Thanksgiving in the Mountains

We had a wonderful thanksgiving visiting my grandmother, uncles and cousins.  My grandma is 86 and wore the cutest apron.  I'm mad that my one photo of it has a glare from a mirror.  We also went to my aunt and uncle's cabin to spend the night with our "utah cousins" where the kids learned how to play in the snow, dress in "bib's" and go sledding for the first time.  I love the video of Louis's first time playing in the snow.  He just sits there like a big marshmallow.  We had lots of fun and appreciated being included with everyone else's families!

Carter was a little confused because he got to sit at the big kids table.  He didn't realize he was "big."

Doug borrowed my aunts hat.  That thing was warm!
